Lawsuit Seeks to Block Trump’s Planned White House MMA Event
The lawsuit, filed Saturday by the Public Integrity Project on behalf of a Vietnam War veteran and a civic activist based in Virginia, was reported by media outlet.
It argues that a structure being constructed on White House grounds for the event was not properly authorized, claiming it lacks both congressional approval and an environmental review.
The complaint also alleges that holding a private, profit-oriented sporting event at the White House could financially benefit Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), as well as Trump himself.
It references reports that Trump purchased $50,000 worth of stock in UFC’s parent company in the spring.
The plaintiffs further dispute the administration’s position that the event falls under congressional authorization related to America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
