Vietnam’s President To Lam Begins First Foreign Visit with Trip to China

(MENAFN) Vietnamese President To Lam arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a four-day visit, marking his first overseas trip since being elected last week, according to state media reports.

China is the first destination on Lam’s international schedule after he was unanimously chosen as president for a five-year term.

He is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week, in discussions anticipated to focus on strengthening bilateral ties.

The visit highlights the expanding economic and strategic relationship between Vietnam and China, two neighboring countries with long-standing political and trade links.

Trade between the two nations exceeded $260 billion in 2024, underscoring the scale of their economic partnership.
