Xi Meets Vietnam’s Leader To Lam in Beijing

(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted Vietnamese President To Lam in Beijing on Wednesday, according to state media reports.

Xi held an official welcome ceremony for Lam, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, as reported by a news agency.

The ceremony reportedly featured a 21-gun salute, which is considered the highest level of protocol for visiting heads of state.

Lam arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a four-day visit, marking his first foreign trip since being elected president last week.

China is the first country Lam has visited since his unanimous election to a five-year presidential term.

The visit underscores close ties between the two countries, whose bilateral trade reportedly exceeded $260 billion in 2024.
