Vietnam’s Lawmakers Elect To Lam as President for 2026–2031 Term

(MENAFN) Vietnam’s National Assembly on Tuesday unanimously elected Communist Party General Secretary To Lam as the country’s state president, assigning him a five-year term.

As stated by reports, this marks Lam’s second tenure following a brief period in office in 2024.

He will serve as president for 2026–2031 while retaining his position as party general secretary.

During his 18 months as party leader, Lam has guided key policy decisions through the Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat, aiming to accelerate Vietnam’s overall development.

His long-term objectives include transforming the nation into an upper-middle-income country with a modern industrial base by 2030 and achieving high-income developed status by 2045.

Lam has also pushed forward extensive administrative reforms, including streamlining government agencies and reducing the total number of provinces and cities.
